Explosive Fallout on Lesbian Dating Show “ToGetHer”, Wavve Responds to Riwon vs. Hangyul Scandal

The first lesbian dating reality show in Korea, Wavve’s “ToGetHer” has found itself engulfed in controversy just two episodes into its run. What began as a progressive and buzzworthy show has now spiraled into a war of words between cast members Riwon and Hangyul, prompting Wavve to issue a statement on May 1 that it is “currently verifying the situation.”

The controversy began shortly after Episode 2 aired on April 25. At the time, online chatter quickly intensified when it was revealed that Riwon had previously worked as an adult broadcast BJ, raising questions about her background and even her sexual orientation.

In response, Riwon acknowledged her past on social media, writing, “I am a woman who loves women,” but also admitted, “It’s true that I was involved in inappropriate broadcasts and that I dated a man before filming.”
However, things took a sharper turn on May 1 when Hangyul, the show’s youngest cast member who has a “love line” with Riwon, posted a statement alleging that Riwon had made inappropriate suggestions following filming.

While clarifying that there was no romantic connection between them during production, Hangyul claimed she kept in touch with Riwon and was later invited on an overseas trip under the impression it was casual, but realized later that it involved dating-style outings and discomforting advances. Hangyul also added that she was not the only one to receive such offers, hinting at a broader issue.
However, Riwon quickly fired back, accusing Hangyul of twisting their interactions. She posted, “Why would I drag that kid into the mud like that?”, and referenced moments from filming, saying, “We joked about going to Thailand together on camera how is that now being used against me?”

Riwon later deleted her post and uploaded screenshots of alleged messages between her and Hangyul to refute the claims. Declaring she would no longer participate in media appearances post-show, Riwon wrote, “Everything Hangyul posted is false. Once this show ends, I will disappear from Korean media for good.”
As the drama unfolds off-screen, public opinion remains divided, with some taking Riwon‘s side and calling Hangyul “immature”, whereas others defend the latter.
